lost in the supermarket

I forgot to note, a few weeks ago I was in the huge Giant Eagle in Monroeville and as I was leaving my ears perked up, as I felt I recognized the tune that was playing quietly above the din in the store. I concentrated for a moment, and I was sure I knew it, but I couldn’t quite place it. Then it hit me: it was the Clash song “Hitsville UK.” Who’d expect to hear a barely-successful weirdo single off Sandinista in the supermarket in 2008? I’ve certainly never heard it on the radio. You never know in Monroeville.

    Brilliant post.

There was a guy on WYEP (of all stations) who, each week on his show, would play a song that he heard in the supermarket that week. Many times it was really interesting music, like your example here.
