only the good die young. September 18, 2007

on saturday night we tried to get a table at cafe roma in bloomfield but it was packed (chris swears the mayor was taking up half the restaurant).  we walked further down liberty to maybe get a table at tessaro’s (fat chance).

on our way back, we noticed a big FOR LEASE sign on the window of our favorite coffee/brunch spot, grasso roberto.

sure, we still have enrico’s tazzo d’oro right around the corner, and coca cafe a few minutes further down the road (another place we can never manage to get a seat), but grasso roberto was just fantastic.  that coffee put hair on my chest.

RIP grasso roberto.

Grasso Roberto was a nice place but I never knew when it was open, because there weren’t posted hours, or even a “Come in, we’re open!” sign. That might’ve led to its demise.

Though I thought (and I could be wrong) that the sign I saw there was a business-for-sale sign, so it could be kept alive. Though I’m sure it won’t be the same.
