My movie marathon rages on! After watching football for about 6.5 hours straight, I decided to hit the Regent Square Theater and catch:
17. “Planet of the Vampires”
Planet of the Vampires is Mario Bava’s 1965 Sci-Fi/Horror classic. It was my first time seeing it, and seeing it projected was great. Sure, the acting was lackluster, the special effects were kind of goofy, and the dialog was I pretty ridiculous, but the story was great and camera work, lighting and sets were fantastic. I kind of wish all movies looked this “fake”. The technicolor was cranked and the use of shadows and darkness was perfect. I really need to see more Bava stuff as soon asĀ possible.
I think I’m moving on to number 18 for the month…Expect a review tomorrow.
